Location Information
Gate Creek Trail is a moderate to difficult 3.1 mile hike at an elevation of 3,600 feet. This trail has ancient old-growth forests, younger true fir forests and sweeping alpine meadows on the ramparts of Browder Ridge. A little less strenuous than the western access, the gradual climb through switchbacks puts you on a plateau with vies of Mount Jefferson, Mount Washington and Three Sisters. Adventurous types can follow an unmarked trail to a ridge overlooking pristine Heart Lake.
