Location Information
Old Foley Road Trail is an easy 10.8 mile hike. This loop ride has a variety of peddling on all types of roads, providing a good workout, great vistas and example of various forest silviculture stages. The name Foley was derived from a doctor who ran a resort and hot springs during the 1870's. The ride is best initiated at the McKenzie Ranger Station, due to the availability of parking. Ride east on Hwy. #126 form the Ranger Station to Foley Road (#2643) approximately half a mile. Take a right up Foley. The biggest gradient begins in one mile and subsides in 1.5 miles. This road stays at a good gradient until the intersection of Rd. 410. When you reach this intersection, there is a sign that indicated Rainbow Falls, Separation Trailhead, and Foley Seed Orchard. Don't go towards these area, but go right on the Rd. 410, which is a gravel road. After 5.2 miles, you will see an old country road, which is Rd. 347. you will recognize this intersection because Rd. 410 is bermed up to stop motor vehicles from going farther. Take the right and go on this old country road and stay on it for several miles. There are several spur roads on the left and right, but don't get diverted onto these unless you are up for exploring-some come with vistas. After 6.9 miles, the downhill ride begins. Here, the road will flatten out, make note of this because the intersection of Horse Creek Road is coming up soon, at 7.8 miles. Take a right at Horse Creek Road. Take another right onto Hwy. #126 and ride 1.5 miles to reach the McKenzie River National Recreation Trail, which is one mile west of the Ranger Station. You may ride the trail or continue on Hwy. #126 back to the Ranger Station.
