From Roseburg, Western Trailhead) Travel east on Highway 138 to Forest Service Road 4714. Turn right onto 4714 and follow it to the Panther Trailhead, near Apple Creek Campground (south side of river). Limited parking is available at this trailhead. Horse trailers should proceed 200 feet past the trailhead to a wide area on the road. Restrooms are available at Apple Creek Campground.Eastern Trailhead) Travel east on Highway 138 to Forest Service Road 4750. Turn right onto 4750 and follow it a quarter mile to the Calf Creek Trailhead. Roadside parking is available before and after the trailhead on Road 4750. Dispersed campsite nearby, no restrooms or water available.
Location Information
Sections of the Calf Segment of the North Umpqua Trail climb away from the river. There are many grade changes throughout the length of the trail, though none exceed 20% in steepness, and most are under 15%. This trail is rocky and can be muddy in the winter months.
