From Tiller, By the Lakes Trail #1578 and Grasshopper Trail #1574 from the Skimmerhorn Trailhead) Travel northeast on County Road #46, which becomes South Umpqua #28. Continue on Road #2823 to Road #2830. Follow Road #2830 to Road #2830-600. Follow Road #2830-600 to the Skimmerhorn Trailhead, approximately 35 miles from Tiller. Follow the Lakes Trail #1578 to Grasshopper Trail #1574. Follow the Grasshopper Trail to Grasshopper Mountain Trail. By the Acker Divide Trail #1437 from the Acker Divide Trailhead) Travel northeast on County Road 46 which becomes South Umpqua Road #28. Continue on 28 to Jackson Creek Road #29. Follow Road #29 to Road #2900-550 and follow #2900-550 to the Acker Divide Trailhead, approximately 31 miles from Tiller. Follow this trail to the Grasshopper Trail #1574. Follow this to the Grasshopper Mountain Trail.
Location Information
The scenic Grasshopper Mountain Trail passes through a series of open glades and meadows on its way to the cliff-top site of an old lookout. The trail ends at the edge of these 800 foot cliffs, offering a panoramic view of the upper South Umpqua basin and the Rogue-Umpqua Divide. Cliff and Buckeye Lakes lie immediately below, while Highrock Mountain rises dramatically to the east.
