From Roseburg, Travel east on Highway 138, 23 miles past the North Umpqua Ranger Station, and cross the Mott Bridge to the Fisherman's Parking Lot at the Steamboat Work Center. Trail begins here.
Location Information
The Panther Segment of the North Umpqua Trail starts at the Steamboat Work Center and follows the river to the site of the old fish hatchery. The trail then climbs above rocky cliff away from the river until it drops down to Road #4714. The trail is recommended for family use and provides some access to the North Umpqua River for fishing (fly angling only). Watch out for Poison Oak along the trail. The trail features spring wildflowers as well.
