Directions
From Roseburg, Travel east on Highway 138 to Little River Road #17. Follow 17 for 20 miles until it turns into Forest Service Road 27. Continue on 27 past Hemlock Lake to Forest Service Road 2781. Follow 2781 for half a mile to Forest Service Road 2781-100 and turn left. Proceed about one mile on 2781-100 to the trailhead on the left.
Location Information
The Snowbird Shelter Trail passes through an old-growth forest and three small alpine meadows are crossed before reaching the shelter. The trail continues to the west and touches Forest Service Road 2715-105 before it reaches the crossing of Forest Service Road 27. The trail then continues west up a clear-cut boundary and across a ridge to its junction with the Yellow Jacket Loop Trail #1522.
