Directions
From Tolgate, Oregon, Horseshoe Prairie: From Tollgate, Oregon, follow Highway 204 east 6.5 miles to Forest Service Road #3728 (Horseshoe Prairie Road). Trailhead is located near the snow gauge.Upper Trailhead: From Highway 204, 8 miles south of Tollgate and 14 miles north of Elgin, turn west on Forest Service Road #31 (Summit Road) for 4 miles. Turn right on Forest Service Road #3150 to the 035 spur road. Turn right on Spur road 035. This is the Lake Creek trailhead. Follow Lake Creek Trail 3/4 miles to the Buck Mountain Trail junction.
Location Information
This trail provides access to hunting, fishing, and camping. It is open to hikers, mountain bikers, motorcyclists, and horseback riders. It provides an excellent view of the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness area. Users can expect heavy traffic from hikers and horses during the hunting seasons. Access to Lake Creek Trailhead via road is only possible during the late spring, summer, and fall.
