From Gold Beach, Travel east on Jerry's Flat Road (County Road 595, turns into Forest Service Road 33) to Lobster Creek bridge, approximately 10 miles. Turn left on Forest Service Road 3310, cross the bridge over the Rogue River, and take the first right on Silver Creek Road (Forest Service Road 3533). Proceed 1/4 mile and park at a small turnout on the right.
Location Information
Myrtle Tree Trail winds up the hill with many switchbacks to accommodate the moderate grade. You will see some large Oregon myrtle as soon as you begin the trail. When you near the top there is a small stream with a picnic table next to it. Continue on to the world's largest myrtle tree; you will know it when you see it! Three large trunks extend above a hollow 13 foot diameter base. There are picnic tables and benches at the trailhead.
