From Grants Pass, Travel southwest on U.S. Highway 199 to County Road 5240. Follow 5240 west across the forest boundary to Forest Service Road 4201. Follow 4201 west to spur road 140. Take 140 to the Kalmiopsis Rim Trail #1124. Access to Little Chetco Trail is from the Kalmiopsis Rim Trail.
Location Information
Little Chetco Trail starts near Coldsprings Camp and runs down a serpentine ridge to the Emily Cabin area where it follows an old mining road to Copper Creek. It crosses the Chetco River then follows it downstream. It then crosses over a steep hill to Madstone Cabin site. Horse travel is not recommended past Copper Creek. The trail is steep, rugged, narrow, and primitive past the Emily Cabin area.
