From Brookings, Travel south on Highway 101 to County Road 896 (Winchuck). Follow 896 east until it becomes Service Road 1107. Continue on 1107 east to spur road 330 east to spur road 334. The trailhead is located on 334.
Location Information
From Horse Creek (south access), the Red Mountain Trail climbs to a ridge before descending to Cottonwood Camp on the South Fork of the Chetco River in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness. Most of the trail is shaded by a mixed conifer hardwood overstory. Trail access is provided to both the Navy Monument and Chetco Divide trails.
