Location Information
Jackpot Meadows Trail runs from Road 309 downhill to the river, then back uphill to Road 240 near Jackpot Meadows. The portion of the trail in the Zigzag Ranger District has a few small sections of moderate steepness. It begins in an area rich with rhododendrons that generally bloom in mid-June. Descending, the trail has a few switchbacks and crosses through two rocky talus areas with views of the canyon. The best opportunity for camping is on the south side of the Salmon River, which can be reached by crossing a footbridge usually in place by early summer.
