Location Information
Huckleberry Mountain Trail begins at a junction with the Lakeshore Trail #656 at the south end of the lake. After a 1/2 mile moderate ascent a fine viewpoint (Lost Lake) is reached. The trail continues at a moderate grade through lichen-covered old growth Hemlock and patches of Huckleberry, crossing two or three small streams before reaching the crest. On the crest of the ridge (backbone of the Cascade Mountains), the trail joins the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. Lolo Pass is four miles to the south; Buck Peak is four miles to the north.
