The Willamette National Forest started charging fees for some activities at the Cougar Recreation Area in June, 1998. The fee comes as a result of many years of listening to visitors and community members. By charging a
fee for this special area, the Forest Service intends to provide a cleaner,
more enjoyable recreation experience for all forest visitors. Beginning in April, 1998, the Forest will also restrict camping to help prevent resource damage.
