Location Information
The Desert Queen Ranch site lies in the Hidden Valley area of the park south of the Wonderland of Rocks. The site was the homestead of William "Bill" Keys, a Russian immigrant who came to the area in 1910. Keys began working at the Desert Queen Mine and eventually acquired the property, which included mill, mine and a few acres around them. He homesteaded and raised a family in the area with his wife, Frances. Since his death the site has been given to the National Park Service and placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is open daily for ranger guided tours. Tickets can be purchased through the reservation office or at Oasis Visitor Center.
