Location Information
Vicksburg served mainly as a mining camp for the numerous mines in the Clear Creek drainage area. Some of the most famous were the Swiss Boy Mine, Tasmania Mines, Banker Mine and Fortune Mine,
which mainly produced silver and copper ore. At one time Vicksburg claimed 250 residents, a school, post office, saloon, a blacksmith, two hotels and a boarding house. Despite all this, it did not remain
active for long. Today, a few buildings remain and are used as recreational residences during the summer. One cabin serves as a museum, which is maintained by the Clear Creek Historical Society.
