From Carson, Travel north on the Wind River Highway (County Route 30) to Forest Route 6808. Follow 6808 east towards Triangle Pass and past Bear Creek. Pick up 68 near Triangle Pass and follow it north for approximately two miles to the trailhead.
Location Information
Grassy Knoll Trail is steep and follows the ridge through rolling hills. On the trail, oak trees provide shade and dry grassy meadows offer excellent view points. Cold springs, located about five miles from the trailhead, provides a good cooling off spot on this otherwise dry hike. The trail ends on the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000, below Big Huckleberry Mountain. The trail features wildflowers and huckleberries blanket the meadows in season. There are fantastic views of the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Defiance, Big Lava Bed, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Hood.
