From Yacolt, Travel southeast on NE Railroad Avenue for 2.4 miles to NE Sunset Falls Road. Follow NE Sunset Falls Road to the forest boundary. At the boundary, pick up Forest Route 41. Take 41 south to Forest Route 4109. Route 4109 ends at Silver Star Trail #180. The Indian Pit trail can be accessed about two miles south of the Silver Star trailhead.
Location Information
Indian Pit Trail splits off Silver Star Trail #180 about two miles from the trailhead on Forest Route 4109. The trail descends steeply through beargrass and huckleberries for about 0.5 mile and then climbs the ridge to the site of the Indian Pits. The trail ends about 0.5 mile beyond that.Wildflowers are abundant along this trail from mid-June to early July. Views include the western portion of the Columbia River Gorge, ridge lines, scree landslides, and mountain peaks.
