Directions
From Carson, Observation Peak Trail is accessed from Observation Trail #132. From Carson, travel north on the Wind River Highway (County route 30) to the forest boundary. Continue on 30 north past Beaver Campground to Forest Route 64. Follow 64 north for approximately seven miles to Forest Route 58. Take 58 southwest for about two miles to the Observation Trail trailhead. Follow this trail about two miles south to Observation Peak trail.
Location Information
Observation Peak Trail This is a short spur off Observation Trail #132, which takes you to the summit of Observation Peak. A fire lookout once perched on its 4,207-foot summit. The lookout was built in 1934, and was abandoned n the 1960s. The trail features views on a moderately clear day of Carson Fish Hatchery, Mt. Adams, Mount St. Helens, and Mt. Rainier. An extremely clear day will behold even more spectacular sites including Mt. Baker and Mt. Jefferson in the distance.
