From Trout Lake, Follow Forest Route 23 north across the forest boundary. Continue on 23 north for approximately 20 miles to Forest Route 2329. Follow 2329 north along the Mount Adams Wilderness, past Killen Creek, to the trailhead at Muddy Meadows.
Location Information
Muddy Meadows Trail begins at Muddy Meadows at the end of Forest Route 2329. From the trailhead you get spectacular views of Mt. Adams. The trail proceeds through timber and small meadows east to the intersection with the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000 at 2.7 miles. Muddy Meadows Trail continues, ending at Highline Trail #114.This meadow area was used by Native Americans as a summer berry camp. In the 1800s, many berry camps were located on the north and northwest sides of Mt. Adams. Evidence of berry-drying trenches can still be found in the area.
