Location Information
This trail is heavily used in the fall during hunting season. The Acorn Creek trailhead provides access to a little used area of the County. The trail is crossed by many gavel trails, making it CONFUSING TO FOLLOW. A topographic map and compass are a must when traveling in this area. Also as you enter a clearing, look uphill across the opening, for the trial as it goes back into the trees. this will help you stay oriented. As you gain elevation, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Gore Range across the valley. The trail eventually reaches the ridge top near Ute Peak. Horse/Pack Saddle Recommendations: The lower portion of Acorn Creek Valley is excellent for horse trips with a large parking area at the trailhead suitable for horse trailers.
