Location Information
This trail is the main access route for the Big Blue Wilderness. The Matterhorn Creek Trailhead provides the main access to Matterhorn Peak (13,590') and Wetterhorn Peak (14,015') and alternative access to Uncompahgre Peak (14,309').

The area consists of high elevation alpine tundra and provides spectacular views of peaks over 13, 000'. The trail parallels the Ridge Stock Driveway which is used to move sheep up to the high country in early summer and down in the fall. Water is scarce so pack your water accordingly.
