Directions
From Gunnison, Take Hwy 50 to Longbranch Road (#780) which is about 1/2 mile west of Sargents. On Road #780 go to the Longbranch Ranger Station (not manned), bear left at the corral, and bear right at the next fork (only 100 feet). A sign at the next road fork marks the beginning of the trail (to the left). Follow the main fork of Longbranch Creek.
Location Information
The trail follows Longbranch Creek to a primitive road atop the Continental Divide. A loop route is possible by following this road west along the Divide to a point above Baldy Lake. A short trail leads to Baldy Lake. From there return to Longbranch via the West Fork-Baldy Lake Trail #490-#491.
