Directions
From Denny Creek Trailhead, Hike five miles north on Browns Pass Trail to Texas Creek Trail. Turn eastward on Texas Creek Trail and hike one mile to Magdalena Trail.
Location Information
Magdalena Trail, 542, stems from Texas Creek Trail, 416, near the head of the Texas Creek Valley. It begins at approximately 10,980 feet and climbs to about 12,500 feet, in two miles, to the Magdalene Mine. The mine lies very close to the Continental Divide. When I saw it from across the valley, on Browns Pass, I thought, "What inspired men to dig into that rock?" The answer of course is money, the ultimate motivator.

A Lack of signs may make this trail difficult to follow. Remember that the trail follows a creek for the entire distance. The entire length of the Magdalena Trail is in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness.
