Directions
From Cougar, Travel east on Primary Forest Route 90 to Primary Forest Route 83. Follow 83 north past the Cougar Sno-Park to Forest Route 8100. Follow 8100 north to Forest Route 8123. Take 8123 north to the Blue Lake trailhead. Follow Toutle Trail #238 (Blue Lake Segment) for 8 miles to Loowit Trail #216. Follow the Loowit Trail north to Castle Ridge Trail.
Location Information
Castle Ridge Trail follows the ridge top and then terminates at Loowit
Trail #216. The trail also affords access to Castle Lake Trail #221. From the ridge top, visitors can enjoy views of the blast area, Mount St. Helens, the South Fork of the Toutle River, and Castle Lake. In addition, excellent elk viewing opportunities are available.
