Directions
From US 3 north of I-93, NH, Travel US 3 east to where it intersects with US 302. Take US 302 east for several miles to where it forks with Base Road. Travel Base Road to Mt. Clinton Road. Stay on Base Road and travel 1 more mile to the trailhead by the parking area on the south side of the road.
Location Information
The trail begins off Base Road in a small parking area. The trail immediately crosses over Franklin Brook. At 1.4 miles you'll see memorial to Herbert J. Young, who died of exposure there in 1928. A little beyond the 2 mile point it crosses Gem Pool and begins its steep and rocky ascent up the ravine wall. A short distance down the trail is a small spur that leads to what is known as "Gorge" with its beautiful pools and falls. The terminus is the Lakes of the Clouds AMC hut, elevation 5,000 feet. Some find the descent of this trail more difficult than the ascent due to its steepness and usual slippery conditions.

Note: Combined with the upper portion of Crawford Path, Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail is the shortest western route to the summit of Mt. Washington.
