Middle Sister Trail begins 1 mile into Carter Ledge Trail from the White Ledge Campground picnic grove. The trail begins as a gradual ascent through a mixed hardwood forest, crosses Hobbs Brook then steepens significantly in a northwestern direction as it approaches Blue Mountain, 2,520 feet. The trail turns south and ascends the northeast spur of Third Sister. You will notice about 3 miles into the hike, the junction with Carter Ledge Trail which takes you back to your trailhead and consequently, the picnic grove. Middle Sister summit is reached in 3.6 miles. You will pass Middle Sister Cutoff and First Sister before reaching the terminus at Champney Falls Trail. From here you may reach the summit of Mt.
