From Lake George, Spillway Campground is located approximately 10 miles southwest of the small town of Lake George, Colorado. Visitors may reach this campground by driving south on County Road 96 from Lake George to the dam spillway Elevenmile Canyon. Overlook Trail begins within the campground.
Location Information
The Overlook Trail leads from the Spillway Campground .5 miles to an observation point, that provides vistas from the rim of Elevenmile Canyon. The trail offers great opportunities to view the surrounding country and Elevenmile Reservoir. It does not provide access to the reservoir. Occasionally golden eagles can be seen nesting in the nearby granite cliffs and crags. In the spring and late fall bald eagles may be viewed in the Elevenmile Canyon area.
