Location Information
The Brookside-McCurdy Trail, 607, leads hikers through many different landscapes. From McCurdy Mountain to Bison Pass the hiker enters a ghost forest created by a fire that occurred around the turn of the century. The trees died standing upright and many of them remain that way, although they now look like driftwood. High elevation meadows, low grassy valleys, unusual granite formations and varied forests also add variety to hikers' experiences. The trail also enters bighorn sheep country offering a glimpse of the illusive beasts.Starting at the Twin Eagles Trailhead, the Brookside McCurdy Trail is the main route from south to north through the Lost Creek Wilderness. It connects with seven other trails, most of which can be used to form loops. The north terminus of the trail is 3 miles west of Bailey. Water is available at Twin Eagles, Spruce Grove and Lost Park Trailheads.
