From Colorado Springs, ACCESS: 1. From Colorado Springs, take either 26th St. or Cheyenne Road to North Cheyenne Canyon Road to Gold Camp Road. About 1 mile past the locked gate at the intersection of North Cheyenne Canyon Road,Gold Camp Road andHigh Drive is the trailhead.
Location Information
Hikers, mountain bikers and horse traffic share St. Mary's Falls trail. Motorized vehicles are prohibited. St. Mary`s Falls cascades 250-300 feet down a solid granite wall and is about 1.6 miles from Gold Camp Road. The elevation of the falls is 8,880'.This trail follows Buffalo Canyon Creek through mature aspen stands and mixed pine and spruce forests to St. Mary`s Falls. To the right of the trail is the falls. To the left of the trail is a good vista of Colorado Springs with the Broadmoor Hotel in the foreground. Trout may be seen in the creek. Profile: 8,880 +Falls 8,500 8,250 + 8,000 7,900 +trailhead Temperatures are about 10 degrees cooler than Colorado Springs. Afternoon thunderstorms are common throughout the summer. Camping is permitted at undeveloped sites along the trail. Camping is recommended 300' from any trail or stream. Campfire permits are not required, but please be sure your fire is absolutely out before you leave. Use no-impact camping techniques. Pack it in/ Pack it out rule applies. Respect other trail users. Drinking water is not readily available. Hikers are advised to carry an adequate supply. Water from streams should be treated before use.
