From Lake City, Take Hwy 149 south 10 miles. Turn onto Forest Road #788 at the Slumgullion campground turnoff. Drive about 12 miles to Mineral Creek. A sign on the left marks the trail.
Location Information
Access to Powderhorn Primitive Area, a flat, high elevation, alpine tundra ecosystem offering expansive views of the San Juan and La Garita Mountain Ranges. Herds of elk are common sights at the upper end of the trail.
