From Beaver Creek, Travel 34 miles east on I-70 to the first Frisco exit (#201). Turn right and drive through Frisco to Hwy 9. Turn right on Hwy. 9 and follow about 9 miles to Breckenridge. Travel 2.5 miles south of Breckenridge on Highway 9 to the 2nd Crown Subdivision sign, opposite Goose Pasture Tarn. Turn right onto Spruce Creek Road (#800) and follow the main road through the subdivision staying left at questionable intersections. Park at the Spruce Creek Trailhead, 2 miles from CO 9. Walk up the road 1/4 mile to the Crystal road, which will be on the right with a green gate.
Location Information
Follow the 4 WD trail through numerous meadows filled with wildflowers. These meadows are fed by tributaries of Crystal Creek. The road rises onto a shelf with Lower Crystal Lake nestled against the mountain walls. A cabin offers shelter from the wind. The jeep road ends here and the trail soon forks. The left branch leads to another shelf with some mine remains. The right branch crosses Crystal Creek and switchbacks up the side of Peak 10 to Upper Crystal Lake.
