Location Information
The Check Dam Trail #190 is named for the large amount of Civilian Conservation Corps vintage erosion control dams in the area. The trail offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and Upper Pinal Creek. Mountain brush dominates the landscape and provides a diverse habitat for the wildlife in the area.

From the east edge of the Icehouse C.C.C. parking area follow the Six Shooter Canyon Trail #197 east about 1/4 mile, past the gravel pit, to the junction of the Creck Dam Trail #190. Turn north and follow the 190 Trail which slopes from west to east until it drops into the creek above Parker Pond. Here, the trail climbs out the other side and follows a south facing slope, ending at the junction of the Pioneer Pass Toll road Trail #200.
