From Graeagle, Travel south on Hwy. #89 for approximately 1.25 miles and turn right onto Primary Forest Route #24. Follow this road for approximately 3 miles and turn right onto the road to Gray Eagle Lodge. The trailhead is on the road to Gray Eagle Lodge. Trailhead T.22N., R.12E., Section 32. Follow The Smith Lake Trail and it intersects the Smith Creek Trail. The Smith Creek Trailhead, itself, is difficult to find because it is in an area presently being subdivided

The Smith Creek Trail (12E22) is an easy 2.4 mile trail along Smith Creek at an elevation of 5,100 feet. This trailhead is difficult to find because it is in an area presently being subdivided.
