Directions
From Morro Bay, Travel northeast on Highway 41 to Forest Road 29S11, the Cerro Alto Campground and trailhead are with a miles from Highway 41.
Location Information
GENERAL INFORMATION: The trail begins along the main campground road where a directional sign is displayed south of the Host Cabin. The steep 3 mile climb to Cerro Alto Peak passes through creekside vegetation and up through chaparral covered hillsides. By springtime wildflowers cover the hillsides. Some of the finest views of the forest can be seen from this trail; one of the most notable views being Morro Bay and Morro Rock. Several miles of coastline can also be seen from the trail. This is a popular trail for mountain bicycles. Be sure to carry drinking water.
