Directions
From Ventura, Travel north on Highway 33 for about 20 miles, the trailhead is located on the left (east) side of the highway. The highway is under restrictive use once it enters the forest.
Location Information
GENERAL INFORMATION: Ortega Trail (23W08) Length 10.5 miles. A very rough motorcycle trail. Take Highway 33 to 1.5 miles north of Wheeler Gorge Campground and the Ortega Trail will be on your left. The trail is best for a trail bike with an experienced rider. From the head of Cherry Canyon, the Ortega Trail is open to 4WD vehicles for 2.5 miles and offers some beautiful views. There is no water available. Please stay on the trail to protect the vegetation. This trail is closed at times during the rainy season. Check with the district.
