High View Nature Trail lies in the western portion of the park in Black Rock Canyon. This short, one and a half mile, loop leads through desert terrain that includes Joshua Trees and pinyon pines. The path begins from the South Park parking area and leads 350 feet up a hill side to a lookout that offers views of Mount San Gorgonio. A brochure is available from the Black Canyon Ranger Station, that describes the flora and fauna visible along this route.
