From Furnace Creek, Travel south to 45 miles to Ashford Junction on Badwater Road. Continue along Badwater Road to a four-wheel drive road directly across the road from Jubilee Mountain. This is Virgin Springs Road.
Location Information
Virgin Springs Canyon Trail lies in the southern area of the park and can be accessed via Badwater Road. A four-wheel drive road leads two miles to the drainage and the trailhead. This trail leads two miles north in Virgin Springs Canyon to a fork. This fork is the beginning of a seven mile loop. Following the right side of the fork hikers will continue through the canyon. An abandoned mining cabin lies at three miles from the trailhead. Continue following the canyon northward past the cabin to a fork in the drainage. At this fork follow the left side. The trail begins to head westward leaving the drainage slightly more than one mile after the fork in the canyon. The trail climbs over land for the next two miles, then begins to complete the loop and descend. In two and a half miles the trail descends 1,800 feet to reach the beginning of the loop. Follow the trail back to the trailhead through Virgin Springs Canyon. This trail is not recommended for summer use. Bring lots of water in preparation for the extreme heat.
