Location Information
The route to Hungry Bill's Ranch lies along Johnson Canyon in the Panamint Mountain Range above Death Valley. To reach the trailhead a high-clearance, four-wheel drive vehicle is necessary. Follow the northern fork of the canyon/road to it's end. From here it is a one and a half mile hike following the creek drainage to the old ranch site. The trail is washed out in places and may be difficult to follow, so bring a compass and topo map. There are ruins and an old orchard at the ranch site. It is possible to continue another five miles (and 3,000 feet) along the drainage to Panamint City. This trail is not recommended for summer use due to extreme heat. Bring lots of water.
