From Big Stump Entrance, Follow Highway 180 northward 1.5 miles to Generals Highway. Turn right on Generals Highway and follow it 25 miles to the turn for Lodgepole Campground. Turn left and travel .75 miles to the campground. Park in the lot near the Log Bridge. The trailhead is immediately beyond the bridge.
Location Information
The trail to Tokopah Falls begins beyond the Log Bridge in Lodgepole Campground. The trail is rocky at first, but the surface changes with the terrain as it climbs the valley. At first, the trail climbs slightly, then it levels for views of the Tokopah Valley and Watchtower cliff. In one and a half miles it reaches the impressive granite cliffs and waterfall of Tokopah Canyon. The falls are 1,200 feet (365.8 meters) high, cascading down a granite surface. It is most impressive in early summer, when the run-off from the melting snowpack, in the Pear Lake region upstream, is at its peak.
