Directions
From Harrison Gulch Ranger Station, Drive 7 miles west of Harrison Gulch on Highway 36 to the Wildwood Mad River Road (#30). Turn south and continue approximately 10 miles to Pine Root Saddle. At the saddle turn east on the Middle crest Road (29N35) and continue approximately 11 miles. At Stuart Gap junction turn right on 28N62 and continue another 2 miles to the trailhead.
Location Information
GENERAL INFORMATION: Then on to the top of the ridge through a short-steep series of switchbacks. At the top of the ridge there is a junction with #10W60 (Black Rock Mountain Trail), also a good view of the wilderness to the west, North Yolla Bolly Mountain to the southeast, and Mt. Shasta to the north. The trail then drops down through Cedar Basin to the southeast and it's junction with #9W36 (Humboldt Trail) where it ends. There is good water in Pettijohn and Cedar Basins.
