From Harrison Gulch Ranger Station, This trail begins from the Tomhead Traihead, which is located on the east side of the Yolla Bolly Wilderness. From Harrison Gulch Ranger Station drive 7 miles west on Highway 36 to the Wildwood Mad River Road #30. Turn left and continue on this road for approximately 7 miles, to County Road #35. Turn left and travel about 20 miles to road 27N06 and travel on to the trailhead.
Location Information
GENERAL INFORMATION: The Syd Cabin Ridge Trail starts at Tomhead Trailhead and enters Yolla Bolly Wilderness heading almost due south, and down into the South Fork of Cottonwood Creek. Tomhead Spring is approximately 1/2 to 3/4 mile down the trail from the trailhead, with good water all year long. The trail then follows Syd Cabin Ridge in a long series of switchbacks down to Long Gulch and Cottonwood Creek (Hawk Camp). The trail ends approximately 100 yards up west bank at its junctions with #9W39 (Cotoonwood Creek Trail).
