Location Information
Buck Creek Trail is a strenuous 5 mile hike located within the Glacier Peak Wilderness. The trail begins off of the Pacific Crest Trail and ends at Buck Creek Pass. The trail begins climbing out of the valley floor switchbacking steeply up the hill. At 2 miles, Sheep Camp Trail leaves on the left. As the name implies, this trail was once used heavily by sheep herders. This short, one mile trail follows along a ridge below Fortress Mountain to some spectacular views of Glacier Peak. Excellent campsites are available for horseback riders and backpackers.Continuing up Middle Ridge for another 3 miles, you come to Buck Creek Pass which is known for its vistas of Glacier Peak. The pass is closed to horse camping except in designated horse camps. Just a half a mile north of the pass is Flower Dome Trail. This short, one mile route follows a meadowed alpine spur to the rounded summit. A hike to the top of this appropriately named mountain affords marvelous views of wildflower meadows. Buck Creek Trail #1513 continues for 9.3 miles and ends at Chiwawa River Road on the Wenatchee National Forest.
