From Verlot, Travel east on the Mt. Loop Hwy. for 4.5 miles. Turn right on the Schweitzer Creek Rd. #4020 and continue 2.3 miles to the Bear Lake Rd. #4021 and then follow this road for 1.5 miles to the junction with Forest Rd. #4021016. Turn left and follow this road to the end. You must walk 1 mile on the abandoned road to the trailhead on your left at the junction.
Location Information
Ashland Lakes Trail is a moderate 4.5 mile hike located off of the Mt. Loop Highway. The trail begins off Road #4021016 and ends at Twin Falls Lake. The trail starts through a stand of young trees and then enters old-growth forest climbing up steeply for 0.3 miles. At 0.7 miles, a junction is reached. The right fork leads to the lakes. Good campsites are found around these lakes. Continuing on the trail, past Ashland Lakes, the terrain is a steady downhill stretch. The trail eventually ends at Twin Falls Lake.
