Location Information
Deer Creek and Kelcema Lake Trail is a moderate 0.6 mile hike for beginning backpackers. The trail begins near the end of Deer Creek Road #4052 and ends at Deer Creek Pass. The 23 acre lake is situated in a subalpine setting, surrounded by trees and vegetation. At Deer Creek Pass, the views of Three Fingers, Mt. Bullon and Jumbo mountains are spectacular. Rich huckleberries are found here in late summer and early fall. The trail also provides access for fishermen and an easy portage for small boats and rubber rafts. Backpackers should use only existing fire rings and burn only wood which is both dead and down.
