Location Information
Eight-Mile Trail is a strenuous 2.5 mile hike. The trail begins off Clear Creek Road #2060 and ends at Squire Creek Pass. The trail is popular with rock climbers since it passes Three-O'Clock Rock on the south side of Jumbo Mountain. This trail begins with a gentle climb that follows an old, abandoned road. From this point on, the trail climbs steeply up the mountain over a long series of switchbacks, eventually meeting the Squire Creek Pass. Cascading waterfalls from the numerous streams and mountain goats located along the way make for an enjoyable hike. During the summer, ripe huckleberries can be found at the Pass. A loop trip (which requires a second car) can be made by taking Squire Creek Trail #654 for 3.7 miles which leads to the Squire Creek Road #2040.
