From Sedro-Woolley, Follow State Route 20 east for 17 miles to milepost 82. Turn left on the Baker Lake Highway (Forest Service Road #11). Continue on the Hwy. for 12 miles to Forest Service. Road #12 and turn left. At 7 miles, turn left on Road #1230. The trailhead and parking are located in 4 miles at the end of the road.
Location Information
The Dock Butte Trail is a strenuous 1.5 mile hike. The trail begins at the trailhead for Blue Lake Trail #604. Follow the trail for 0.2 mile to the junction for Dock Butte. Stay to the right at the junction. In 1.5 miles, the trail leads to the site of an abandoned fire lookout at 5210 feet. The lookout building was burned in 1964. Use caution on the last 0.5 mile of the trail as it is moderately steep and exposed. The view from Dock Butte offers a 360 degree panorama of the North Cascade range. Dock Butte sits on the National Forest boundary.
