From Buena Vista, Drive south 10 miles to County Road 270; and then travel west on County Road 270 for 2.5 miles. This road turns sharply north. Continue straight at this T and follow County Road 272 4 miles to the trailhead.
Location Information
Little Browns Creek Trail is not a forest service maintained trail and may be difficult to find in some places. It is an old trail that provides access to the Antero valley. Begin hiking at Browns Creek Trailhead. Hike 1.5 miles to the junction of Browns Creek Trail and the Colorado Trail. At this junction walk north on the Colorado Trail. In approximately .5 miles the trail will split and Little Browns Creek Trail will veer westward. Turn left at this junction. The elevation of this junction is approximately 9,600'. The trail continues to climb as you follow the rugged valley of Little Browns Creek. The trail remains on the north shore of the stream for most of the way up the valley. In the last 1.25 miles before reaching the 4 WD road. This trail is one way to climb Mt. Antero. It's 14 miles from Browns Creek Trailhead to the summit of Mt. Antero via Little Browns Creek. If this is your desire turn north (right) when you reach the 4 WD road and begin the 1.5 mile climb to the peak.
