Directions
From Yampa, To the Bear River end: Follow County Road 7 southwest of Yampa to Forest Road 900, continuing on to Yamcolo Reservoir. Just after crossing the dam, go right on Forest Road 906 and follow to the trailhead on Coal Creek.To the Sheriff Reservoir end: Travel W/NW on County Rd 17 approximately 5 miles to County Road 132/FH 16. Turn left and go about 9 miles to FDR 959/960. Go south on FDR 959/960 about 3 miles to Sheriff Reservoir. The trail is on the left at the north end of the reservoir.
Location Information
The Sand Creek Trail is located west of Yampa. It leads from the Bear River Valley just north of Yamcolo Reservoir, to Sheriff Reservoir, south of Dunckley Pass. It is accessed on the south end from Forest Road 906, and on the north end from Forest Road 959.
