From Yampa, Follow County Road 17 northwest of Yampa 5 miles to County Road 132/Forest Road 16, the Flat Tops Scenic Byway. Go west approximately 9 1/2 miles to Forest Road 959. Go south to the trailhead, just north of Sheriff Reservoir, on the right.
Location Information
The Bunker Basin Trail is located about 11 miles west of Yampa, in the Dunckley Pass area. It leads from Forest Road 960 north of Sheriff Reservoir, to Haley Reservoir. The trail leads through open meadows, as well as stands of spruce/fir and aspen. Bunker Basin is extremely colorful in the fall. LEAVE NO TRACE As humans, we must minimize our impacts to help preserve this resource for present and future generations.
