From Ohio, Turn onto Forest Road 771.1, which is Gold Creek Road, and travel several miles to the trailhead at the end of it.
Location Information
Gold Creek Trail, 427, leads through the eastern section of the Fossil Ridge Recreation Management Area. The trail begins in the north at the end of Union Park Road, Forest Road 752. The approximate elevation of the northern terminus of the trail is 10,280 feet.

The trail leads south from Union Park into the headwaters of Lottis Creek. It climbs steadily paralleling the creek for two miles then climbs the steep slope of the gulch. During the third mile, the trail climbs to Shaw Ridge and intersects with Cameron Creek Trail, 549, at 11,600 feet. To continue following Gold Creek Trail turn left at this junction. Gold Creek Trail begins to steeply descend from Shaw Ridge into the Gold Creek drainage. The trail parallels the creek for the next two miles until it reaches Gold Creek Road.
